The roof of the workshops is supported at top by strong Flitch girders, the principals having a span of 12 feet and being fixed at intervals of 4 feet. They are covered with ¾ inch boarding on which teak in girders is fixed on one side the whole length and extends the whole length with diagonal cross-bracing (1:50).
The roof is therefore, in 7 divisions not lengthwise, each of which is 117.3 inches. Wall plates 60 feet fitted with sash windows, one being made to open, the other one being made to open, the only light to the shops is admitted through the roof.
Behind the Boiler House, 100 feet in height, are connected 10500.54 ft in cashes & louvers. The Chimney is 150 feet in height.
The Guard House consists of a Guard room and a room with water closets attached and is situated on the West side of the Compound, and convicts; Mess, Furnaces.- West side of the pitting 5 offices term aux 2.
